Safety Committee Message - September 2005

Did you know that September is National Emergency Preparedness Month?

Now is a good time to make sure that you and your family are prepared in the event of some type of disaster. Being prepared for a possible disaster can make a life-or-death difference.

If you were to have to evacuate your home you should, post a note telling others the date, time, where you are going to be headed and with whom. The following is a list of items that should be available whether you are forced to leave you home or stay inside as a shelter in place:

        Money

Food (canned goods and energy bars are good sources)

        Fresh Water

Battery powered radio and or TV

        Flashlight

        First Aid Kit

        Medications and eyeglasses

        Important documents

Changes of clothes (adjust for weather conditions)

        Sleeping bags and or blankets

        Pet supplies
