Q:   How many bills will I receive each year?

A:

       Bills are issued on a semi-annual basis, (two times per year).

       Sewer bills are due October 1 and April 1 and

       Water bills are due September 1 and March 1. 

       Payments cannot be accepted by the Water or Sewer Department.

 

Q:  What time period does this water / sewer bill cover?

A:

       The consumption period dates (billed from and billed to) are located on the front of

       your bill.

 

Q:  What are the current water / sewer rates?

A:

       Call  the water department at (508) 867-0207. The current water rate is $ 45.00 for

       The first 5,000 gallons of  usage and thereafter .0099 per gallon usage

       Call the sewer department at (508) 867-0211 the current sewer rate

Q:   Why is my water bill so high?

A:

        Water bills can vary in amount from one semi-annual to another due to various     

         Reasons including (but not limited to):

·         Consumption / Usage.

·         Seasonal Use (i.e. Lawn sprinkling, pool filling…etc.).

·         Possible Leaks; if you believe your water service is leaking please

Q:    How do I get a final water reading?

A:

        Contact water billing at (508) 867-0207.

 

Q:    Why do I have an interest charge on my bill?

A:

         Interest accrues daily at a rate of 14% per annum from the due date of the bill to the

         Date of the payment and a $ 20.00 demand fee.

 

 Q:   What is a balance forward?

 A:

        A balance forward appears when the previous bill(s) remain unpaid. The amount is

        equal to the outstanding principal , interest and demand fee.

 

 Q:   I recently purchased this property, and received a water bill with consumption

        Dates prior to purchase, what should I do?

 A:

        In a case such as this you should first refer to your settlement documents. In most

        cases  the “buyer” will receive a  credit for water/sewer not yet billed. If you believe

        this is not the case, please contact your closing attorney.

 

Q:   Does the Town of North Brookfield offer public assistance for water/sewer?

A:

       No.

 

Q:   Why did I receive a notice of intent to lien?

A:

       This notice is issued to inform taxpayers of a delinquent amount. If the account

       Remains outstanding the delinquent amount from July 1 through June 30 of the

       Previous fiscal year will be added to the actual Real Estate taxes for the current

       Fiscal year on or around January 1.
