New Policies and Charges Effective 8/12/13

Residents of the following towns North Brookfield, Brookfield, East Brookfield, West Brookfield and Spencer may bring in the following:

Up to 10 gallons/10 pounds at no charge
10-24 gallons for $30.00
25 gallons/25 pounds or more at $50.00

Residents from outside of the North Brookfield, Brookfield, East Brookfield, West Brookfield and Spencer will be charged $40.00 for 1-24 gallons/pounds of Household Hazardous Waste and $60.00 for 25 + gallons/pounds of Household Hazardous Waste.

All additional fees will be payable the day of the event. Checks should be made payable to the “Town of North Brookfield.”

The following is a list of all types of hazardous waste we will be collecting: drain cleaners, metal polish, photo chemicals, dry cleaning fluids, rust preventatives, wood strippers, paint thinner, sealants, gasoline, engine and radiator flushes, old chemistry sets, herbicides, brake fluid, pool chemicals, creosote fertilizer, moth balls, ammonia, oven cleaners, arts and crafts supplies, floor cleaners, radiator cleaners, wood preservatives, oil based paints, solvent degreasers, antifreeze, transmission fluid, pesticides, insect sprays, rodent killers, muriatic acid, kerosene, bleaches, cesspool cleaners, and mercury.

The following items will not be accepted: latex paint, compress gas cylinders, explosives or shock sensitive materials and ammunition, unknown materials, radioactive materials, infectious or biologically active materials, dioxin, tri-, tetra- and pentachlorophenol’s and their chlorophenoxy derivative acids, esters, ethers, amine, and other salts.
