Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic the Board of Selectmen have voted to extend the due date for Real Estate Tax, Excise Tax and Sewer Bills until June 1st 2020. No late fees, penalties, or interest will be charged until after that date (see clarifcation note below).
At their April 7, 2020 meeting, the Board of Selectmen voted to extend the due date for Sewer, Excise, Real Estate and Personal Property tax bills to June 1, 2020. These bills will not incur demand fees and interest if they are paid in full by June 1st. If these payments are not received by the close of business on June 1, interest will be assessed back to the original due date and demands will be issued.
Water bills were due prior to the declaration of a state of emergency and are therefore exempt from the extension. Demands were issued on March 6, 2020. The demand fee and interest will remain due and payable for Water fees not paid prior to their due date. However, the accruing interest is frozen at March 20, 2020 which is when the demand payment was due. Water can not be turned off at this time, but if you have an outstanding demand, be sure to pay it by June 1, 2020 to avoid a shut-off after the emergency has been lifted and any grace period allowed by State statute has expired.
